Hi, I am Kelly Cowan
Licensed Professional Counselor

I knew from an early age that helping people is what I am drawn to. Initially I thought I wanted to be a high school English teacher but learned that that is not my path. I then spent several years as a yoga instructor. In my early 30’s I went back to school to be a substance abuse counselor and through that training realized that you cannot untangle mental health and substance abuse, so I added psychology and mental health counseling schooling to my education. I have been working in the mental health field in a variety of roles since 2014. I received my master’s degree in counseling from Arizona State University in 2017 and became terminally licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (or some other variation on that name depending on the state) in 2020.

I have worked in community mental health, been part of a group practice, and now work solo in my virtual private practice. I enjoy helping people get comfortable within themselves. In my practice I use evidenced based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and others. I am continually learning how to be the most help to others.

In my free time I enjoy being outside hiking and bike riding. My wife and I enjoy traveling the US. When inside I can be found knitting and listening to audiobooks or gaming.
